Trying to install xymon-4.3.7.

No doubt simple, but, on a SLES11 box, rrdtool is installed (/usr/bin/rrdtool). A couple other rrd named files as well.

But configure does not find it. The suggestion to include command line items (I think it is tellling me that) is not clear to me.

Guidance appreciated.

Joseph,

Make sure you install the -dev versions as well.

To be clear, that is the rrdtool-dev package.

It includes the libraries needed for compiling (what you need).

Thanks gents.

I will have to search that one out. SUSe only distributed the rrdtool package, as far as I can tell, so far. Often they have additional CD's (SDK's, etc) not needed for base installs. Maybe it will be in there.

Granted, this is on my OpenSUSE 12.1 box, but:

sudo zypper search rrdtool
root's password:
Loading repository data...
Reading installed packages...

S | Name | Summary | Type

  | lighttpd-mod_rrdtool | Lighttpd module to feed rrdtool databases | package
  | lua-rrdtool | Lua bindings for rrdtool | package
  | python-rrdtool | Python bindings for rrdtool | package
  | rrdtool | A tool for data logging and analysis | package

Thanks to all.

Had to add a repository for the SDK DVD. Then I could find the stuff I needed. Had to attempt configure a couple of times and add more dev stuff.

Saw lots of "signedness" messages, but all steps completed without fatal error.

The basics are up and running.
