Dear Sir,

Please help me to configure the xymon server in solaris OS and I want to know it possible or not?

I have seen your site www.xymon.com<http://www.xymon.com/>; and very impressive with graph/SMS both are integrated. Please also suggest how to integrate graph/SMS in Solaris environment.

Thanks & Regards

Obtain the source. Read the documentation.

Not sure about Solaris but in the Linux world I usually just
./configure && make && make install

It's not quite that simple due to the requirement of rrdtool. I just tried
to install xymon on RHEL and stumbled over rrdtool. I found that and
installed it, but xymon still didn't find the include files. It has been a
while since I installed Hobbit 4.2.0 on solaris (and this is my first
attempt on a linux server), but I remember having similar issues there, too.
You have to install rrdtool first, know where the libraries and the include
files are and then when you do the configure for xymon you might have to
point it to those things.

I use CentOS quite a bit. RHEL should be interchangeable. Try this guide:

Have you started building yet and are stuck, or are you just asking if it is possible? If your stuck provide some details.

Are you planning on installing on Solaris 10? If so, child zone or global? SPARC or x86?
There are some caveats that you may run into but this should be possible. I would stick with gnu tools for building though. You may need to add several packages, either from source or use sunfreeware pkgs. As for SMS, graphs, etc. that is all in the documents.

Yeah, we should endeavor to be helpful to newcomers (although not spoon-feed
them) whenever they come by.

We could have answers like that on darned near any Linux forum out there,
but we should at least try and be helpful.

How about some sites? How about the wiki which specifically covers Solaris
installations?

Here's some Solaris goo:

The helpful sites are great once you have the server installed, but I
suggest the Xymon website (look in the drop down menus) to begin.

pretty helpful to noobs who ask questions with any thought behind them.
My inclination was to refer the OP to:

I also harked back to another mailing list, in a previous century, and the

There's also the obvious language thing, too.

I usually wait until the second "just hand it to me" before I let someone
have it. :)

Honestly, I'm not all that much better, but I like to give someone a
fighting chance before I decide to execute a drive-by RTFM. :)
