Hi Guys

We just setup a SSH tunnel link between our Main Hobbit server and
several external sites. I just wanted to check with you wizards out
there about which ports I need for full Xymon monitoring. From what I
understand port 1984 has to be open? The connection test is my main
concern which ports needs to be open for Xymon to run a connection test?

Regards

Hi,

port 1984 is used by the clients to send their updates to the main server.
the conn test uses fping, which sends icmp packets from the server to the client.

Have you looked at the wiki for hobbit/xymon???

http://en.wikibooks
org/wiki/System_Monitoring_with_Xymon/Administration_Guide

Look at section 10.1

If you are using openssh to tunnel:

ssh -L <PORT>:<targetserver>:<target port>:<[user@]Server in the middle>

So going to a server in the tz is easily done, BUT, do check with your
security management and the server SA, especially if you are doing a bunch
of connections...

Technology is easy, Politics not so...
