Hi Henrik,

I think this task is for you:

After applying the allinone.patch from 03/10/2006 to the actual 4.2.0 release the task bbdisplay core dumps every time it is executed.

Below is the output of the GBD.

I've tried this on my test-system running under SuSE Linux 9.2.

If you need more information, let me know...

Any help is appreciated...

Regards
Johann

B.t.w: Had anybody else problems after applying this patch??

This looks very much like the problem that Jason Jones reported
yesterday, so there is probably something that is broken with the patch.
Not unlikely, since there were some changes to the bbgen code.

I'd appreciate it, if you could upload the bbgen executable and
a core-file to www.hswn.dk in the /incoming directory.

Thanks,

Did you get my ones ok? but for now Johann Eggers, just kill all hobbit
processes and run make;make clean;make check;make install, worked when I
did it.

Thanks,
Jason.

Hi,

Strange: after doing a make clean; make; make install everything is
running fine now :)

But I have no explanation why it didn't work on Friday ??

But Jason: how do you run a make check??
This target is not defined in the Makefile...

Thanks

Hi all,

I am having an odd problem I ack an alert but I still get e-mailed about
it, maybe I need to change a setting somewhere to alter this?

Also is it possible to send e-mails when an alert is ack'd or
enable/disabled (i.e. not for reds but only when reds are ack'd)?

Thanks,
Jason.

I was just going to email out about this too.

We have the latest patches applied, so I had a sslcert expiring soon.
It was in the warning stage, and I acked it for over 1 week. When it
hit the alarm stage, it started sending alerts out, but on the web it
was still acked. I re-acked it again, and so far no alerts yet. Is
this expected behaviour? When going from warning to alarm it will start
sending out notifications even though it shows acked on the webpage?

For sending email on enable/disable, I believe it's the NOTICE tag in
the hobbit-alerts.cfg file. I don't think notifying on acks are
possible yet.

Thanks.

I have seen in the documentation that level 1 acks still send alerts,
but what do the other levels do? And how do I alter the level used?
Thanks for help with notice tag.

Uploaded, the bbgen in the tar.gz is the one on the server and the one
not in the tar.gz is the one I moved from the local server to the other
one, they might be different but I really doubt it.

Still a really odd issue though, personally I don't really know what
"make clean" does in terms of compilation etc. but maybe there is a
conflict somewhere that this resolves?

Either way once you do make clean etc. it works fine and I have had no
problems since (beyond the ones I created for myself)

"make clean" deletes all of the files that are generated when running
"make", so it forces a full re-compile of all of the source files.

I *think* this issue might be related to a change in the parameters used
for one of the internal Hobbit functions. If "make" doesn't get the
dependencies right it may not re-compile all of the source-files that
this change affected, so you will end up with some calls to the function
using one set of parameters, and other calls to the function using a
different set of parameters. Needless to say, this can cause all sorts
of weird problems.

Henrik

Sounds like a reasonable conclusion to me, from what I remember from my
architecture course C compilers do not repeat the linking stage unless
forced to as a way to lower compilation times, may I suggest though that
you add the need for make clean to the patches section of the website so
people don't run into this issue :)
