hi Stewart,
thanks for that. no i hadn't installed it yet but do i have to install it
on the same box i installed the hobbit server?..plus some of these devices
i wanted to monitor are like routers..so how do i install the client on a
router??

Have you installed the hobbit client?

The client does the cpu, mem, etc tests

You would add them to the BBHOSTS file.  Example:  xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
host.foo.com # SMTP NTP.....

The other machine specific tests would be handled by installing the
client
on the box to monitor.  If you are not receiving information from the
client on the hobbit pages then check the Ghost Reports.  You might have
a
incorrect host name.
