Monitoring IMG1010 Media Gateway from Cantata
list Ken Cooper
Hey Everybody, I have another challenge/problem. My company is installing a Cantata IMG1010 Media Gateway with an EMS server that will require me to monitor them with Hobbit. The EMS server is not a problem, it has Linux OS and I am already monitoring a number of this type server. I am told the IMG1010 has it own brand of OS, and I have no idea how to hook to it. Anybody done this before?? Thanks in advance for your help. Ken Cooper Ken Cooper Sr. NOC Technician Phone|XXX.XXX.XXXX user-855b6a08face@xymon.invalid <mailto:user-855b6a08face@xymon.invalid>

Ken, I had a client that had a PMS server for scheduling conferences and such. The OS they had installed was SCO Unix. I've seen several servers like what you're talking about using SCO, but I've no first hand experience with an IMG1010. Josh

Never seen or touched one, but Google came up with a product info page that contained this link: http://www.cantata.com/products/img1010/pdf/img1010_0307.pdf Under "OAM&P" it lists SNMP & MRTG, so you might be able to pick up some useful stuff without having to install anything on the IMG1010 itself. Note that the svn version of devmon may be able to assist here, I am using the linux-openwrt template in svn to monitor a Linksys WRT54GL running openwrt and SNMP, and it has disk, memory and network interface graphs (disk and memory effectively managed by Hobbit). The snmp agent on OpenWRT doesn't currently give any CPU or process information, but it would be easy enough to add templates for a generic SNMP agent that gives output mostly like a native Hobbit client ...
