Linux client not reporting cpu, disk - but reporting other services

Hi,

Today i installed the Hobbitclient on a linux-machine. I installed it out of
the box from the rpm file.

I added smtp as a service. It reports smtp, conn and trends. But there's no
info about cpu or disk. Why is that? Have i done anything wrong?

Thanks

Most common cause is that the hostname used by the client is different
from the hostname you have in your bb-hosts file. On the client, what's
the hostname reported by the "uname -n" command ? If that is different
from the hostname you have in the bb-hosts file, start the client with
the "--hostname=THE.REAL.HOSTNAME" option.

uname -n show exactly the same name as listed in the bb-host file on the
server. So these seems to match as they should.

the client is using the following package:
hobbit-client-4.1.2p1-1FC4.i386.rpm<http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/hobbitmon/hobbit-client-4.1.2p1-1FC4.i386.rpm?download>;

Any other tips to solve this issue?

Thanks

Is there a "hobbitlaunch" process running ?
Is there a /usr/lib/hobbit/client/tmp/msg.txt file with a recent
(i.e. within the pas 5 minutes) timestamp ?

Hello Henrik,

i have the same problem with a solaris client (Solaris 8 + 10).
Hobbit versions 4.1.2p1 + yesterdays snapshot.
Is there a "hobbitlaunch" process running ?
Yes

Is there a /usr/lib/hobbit/client/tmp/msg.txt file with a recent
(i.e. within the pas 5 minutes) timestamp ?
is uptodate (fresh every 5 minutes)

The server has the fresh client information, because the call
http://<hobbit-server>/hobbit-cgi/bb-hostsvc.sh?CLIENT=<my_client>;
shows the current (and correct) client data

How can i help in debugging ?

yes, "ps ax" shows a hobbitlaunch.

yes, the file is there, with a recent timestamp:

1 hobbit hobbit 12878 Nov 17 13:46 msg.txt

Henrik,

I still haven't managed to solve this issue. Do you have any other
clues what might be wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Henrik,

i have the same problem with hobbit-4.1.2p1
Server running on Solaris9 and client on Solaris8.

My Makefile for the server and Makefile + a recent msg.txt of the client are
attched.
hobbitlaunch + "hobbitd_channel --channel=client" are running.

Also i have a huge amount of messages in hobbitd.log like
"2005-11-28 13:01:21 BOARDBUSY locked at 1, GETNCNT is 0, GETPID is 20767, 1
clients"
with "GETPID is" pids for hobbitd + "hobbitd_channel --channel=status" +
"hobbitd_channel --channel=data"

and in bb-display.log messages like " hobbitd status-board not available"

It's a serious problem, because i want to rollout the hobbitclient to my
site.
