Jeff, Are you saying that on your problem clients, the command hangs and so the ~/client/tmp/msg.<hostname>.txt file doesn't get updated or that it fails to be updated at the server end? Chris

The ~client/tmp/msg.<hostname>.txt file doesn't get updated. I just looked at the graph, and it appears that the command hung for 5 hours, came back for 13 hours, and hung again (has been hung for 4 hours) -Jeff

Well, if the client gets "stuck" while collecting the data it sends to Hobbit, then as far as Hobbit is concerned there are no data for this host - which is what the "purple" status is really telling you. So the question is: Why does "netstat -an" stall like that? I'm not in any way an AIX expert, but it sounds like a buggy "netstat" to me ... Regards, Henrik
