Hi all,

A couple of problems with alternate pagesets on Xymon 4.2.3 (I'll be
upgrading to 4.3.x shortly). Just to give a little background
information, I have a virtualhost (xymon) pointing / on xymon to
/opt/xymon/server/www . I also have one server running the Xymon
display and two Solaris zones running half of the network tests each
(so three different places where the bb-hosts file exists). The issues:

1) All of the links/embedded images are asking for
/hobbit/gifs/<imgfile>.gif, despite the fact that this is the code I'm
using on the bbgen command:

BBWEB="/loc" $BBHOME/bin/bbgen --pageset=loc $BBHOME/www/loc/

...as per the manual. Adding a symbolic link in the / directory (in
this case /opt/xymon/server/www) hobbit -> . solves the problem, but
it makes no sense to me.

2) bbgen runs fine, generates the whole webpage structure, but all of
the subpages where the hosts are supposed to appear are blank.

I've used xxpage and xxsubpage and then defined on the host lines
XX:<subpagename>. Originally I had the xxpage/xxsubpage stuff at the
bottom of the file and noticed that doesn't work, and I moved it to
the top and now this is where I'm stuck.

Any ideas or questions?

Any ideas here? I'm pretty sure I followed the directions correctly.

Does no one use this feature, or does it "just work" for others?

I use it extensively and have never had a problem with it. Maybe if you
could post a fragment of your alternate page sets definitions and a couple
of lines from hosts.cfg?

Thanks,

I don't have locations defined on every host in the file (because some

alright. Anything jumping out at anyone?

Hi Ryan,

as I wrote in my mail yesterday I think you need to use the locgroup statement
for every locsubpage and then add a LOC:a538,1 to your bb-hosts.
I don't think that it will work without this statement.

Regards
Torsten

Sadly, this had no impact either. I did find it was correctly reading
the file by accidentally messing up the substitution for one of the
locsubpages, with errors appearing in the bbgen-loc.log. Now it's back
to silently generating empty pages. Very odd. But no one has confirmed
this working in 4.2.3 that I have seen however.
