Since you didn't say what platform you are trying to work on here, we
have to guess.

 
I'm going to guess Solaris, since it seems to have the worst time of it.

 
My guess is that you compiled it with "-L /usr/local/lib" but not "-R
/usr/local/lib". Therefore, the program doesn't know to look in
/usr/local/lib for the libpcre.so0 library.

 
Add:

 
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/usr/local/lib

export LIBRARY_PATH

 
to your startup of xymon.
