bb-display and bbproxy

Hi,

is it possible to run bbproxy and bb-display at the same
time?

The goal is to forward messages to a main Hobbit server, but still
being able to look at the status on the proxy server.

Best regards
Thomas

Im running two scripts from deadcat.net -- bb-omsa-raid.sh and openmanage.sh.

Decided to implement these on a number of servers, and im seeing a few issues:

1. On PE2850s the openmanage script is showing all the information. However the Raid monitor lists the disks and the controllers but reports "no Controllers Found"

2. On PE1850 the openmanage script only picks up "Health" I assume this is picking up the CHASSIS health rather than mainsystem health? Is there a version for blades or do I go edit the script?

Thx

The scripts on deadcat for the raid controllers does not work with later
version of OMSA (at least v5). In fact it reports green condition even
if you have a failed disk due to to a logic change. OMSA used to report
via the controller checks about a disk being degraded. That's no longer
the case.

Someone posted an updated version of it in the bigbro list.. I'll try to
dig a copy out otherwise.

Ah - disregard this. This is the case for the windows version. The
linux is ok... You might need some editing depending on the controller,
OMSA and firmware you have. Usually it's a type case issue.

I rewrote a little these scripts to match my setup. Actually, I got a
lot of Dell PE 1850/1950/2950 and so on... In addition, I rewrote
another script to grab informations from the BMC. Please, find below the
output :

No need for snmp, only 'sudo' ! Obviously, the OMSA package has to be
installed on your monitored servers.

#1 After a bit more investigation, it turns out that it IS picking up the RAID info the 2850s. However as these have a SCSI card in them with nothing connected, its marking them as red. How do I get the script to ignore the SCSI card?
Controller 1 is being listed as:
LSI Logic PCI-X Ultra320 SCSI Host Adapter

#2 Whats weird is when I run "omreport chassis" on the balde and the 2850s I get the same output. However it seems the blades are only sending half the data.

HI all

I am in a pethetic condition. I was working on bash-scripting in which I was
using twiddle to monitor JBOSS and wrote a bash script which uses data from
twiddle to send it to Hobbit usiing the BB tool. But now I am asked to use
Java/JMX Programming for monitoring JBOSS. I am not exposed to java
programming so can anyone help me by sharing some java programs which can be
used for monitoring jboss.

Its really an emergency... plse reply ASAP.

Thanks

Buchain - I haven't tried devmon. While I wouldn't mind setting it up, I have very little time to spend on this, and I also cannot guarantee that snmp is running. These are live production VOB servers, and to be honest I had to do everything involving the two scripts (bb-omsa-raid.sh && openmanage.sh) in a test environment for a few days to make sure it wouldn't impact them.....

Basically what I have figured out with the scripts:

On my 2850s, there are SCSI cards with no RAID volumes. They show up as red. I want to stop it seeing these cards preferably.

On my 1855s if I run the omreport chassis command I get all the info. However on the hobbit webpage its only printing the first two lines....

My entry for bbproxy in hobbitlaunch.cfg is like this:
CMD $BBHOME/bin/bbproxy --hobbitd --bbdisplay=<other IP
address(es)>,127.0.0.1 --listen=0.0.0.0:1985 --report=$MACHINE.bbproxy
--no-daemon --pidfile=$BBSERVERLOGS/bbproxy.pid #--log-details
And hobbitserver.cfg:
BBDISPLAYS="127.0.0.1 <other IP address(es)>"	# IP of multiple hobbit/bbd
servers. If used, BBDISP must be 0.0.0.0

Which alarms exactly are not being forwarded?

I forgot to add 127.0.0.1 to the list of BBDISPLAYS. This could have
solved my problem. However the setup has been altered and currently
there is no forwarding to main Hobbit planned anymore.

Thanks for your response. I keep it in mind in case I have to configure
a similar setup again.
