Wrong URL with new version?
list Hermann-Josef Beckers
Hi, for testing I installed the new version on a new server. I choose to use the old structure /home/hobbit and not /home/xymon, copied the old conf files with appropriate changes (BBDISPLAY). The generated hobbit-apache.conf contains only 3 chances (xymon instead of hobbit) Xymon works, but when I try to access the web pages, only the start page is accessible (http://my.new.host/hobbit/bb.html). The gif images are not shown. When I try to access a subpage, a 404 occurs. That is correct, because it tries to call http://my.new.host/hobbit/hobbit/subpage/subpage.html. Note the second "hobbit" in the URL. Any hints where it does come from? Difference between the servers: the old one is Mandrake with DocumentRoot /var/www/html and the new one is OpenSUSE 11.0 with DocumentRoot /srv/www/htdocs. Yours hjb

I've also been trialling Xymon 4.2.2 (on Debian) and get the same problem. I have tried configuring it as 'xymon' and 'hobbit' and get the same symptoms with both. Andrew

A little further ... Removing the trailing slash in 'Alias /hobbit "/home/hobbit/server/www/" ' the first level of subpages are shown correct. But access to the cgi scripts returns still a 404. Removing the trailing slash from the script aliases makes no difference. What's the AIuniXen component in your URL? Most of the CGI and other web page is part of your Apache rewrite rules. You may want to look more closely at them. =G=

That may be your problem. Unless you have included the xymon config into your httpd.conf file, you need to add the content to your apache config file. This is one of the install steps...I'd quote it exactly but I'm not where I can grab it.

This note in the include file would make me think that you do not have the Xymon webfiles as the root url...unless this is misworded. Have you tried commenting the alias?
# NB: The "Alias" line below must NOT be used if you have
# the Xymon webfiles as the root URL.
It should appear as below in the config file...this will need a restart of your apache server.
#Alias /hobbit/ "/home/hobbit/server/www"

Tried that: calling /my.new.host/bb.html gives me the start page, aber no gifs. sub pages aren't found as well. after reverting the above change, my apache logs show the following access_log: 10.45.96.94 - - [16/Jan/2009:08:41:51 +0100] "GET /hobbit/ HTTP/1.1" 200 5536 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; de; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008120122 Firefox/3.0.5" 10.45.96.94 - - [16/Jan/2009:08:41:57 +0100] "GET /hobbit/Citrix-Server/Citrix-Server.html HTTP/1.1" 200 13593 " http://lscopy02/hobbit/"; "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; de; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008120122 Firefox/3.0.5" 10.45.96.94 - - [16/Jan/2009:08:41:59 +0100] "GET /hobbit/Citrix-Server/hobbit-cgi/bb-hostsvc.sh?HOST=ssctx01&SERVICE=conn HTTP/1.1" 404 1349 " http://lscopy02/hobbit/Citrix-Server/Citrix-Server.html"; "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; de; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008120122 Firefox/3.0.5" 10.45.96.94 - - [16/Jan/2009:08:43:02 +0100] "GET /hobbit/Citrix-Server/Citrix-Server.html HTTP/1.1" 200 13593 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; de; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008120122 Firefox/3.0.5" 10.45.96.94 - - [16/Jan/2009:08:43:02 +0100] "GET /hobbit/menu/menu.css HTTP/1.1" 304 - "http://lscopy02/hobbit/Citrix-Server/Citrix-Server.html"; "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; de; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008120122 Firefox/3.0.5" 10.45.96.94 - - [16/Jan/2009:08:43:02 +0100] "GET /hobbit/gifs/green.gif HTTP/1.1" 304 - "http://lscopy02/hobbit/Citrix-Server/Citrix-Server.html"; "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; de; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008120122 Firefox/3.0.5" 10.45.96.94 - - [16/Jan/2009:08:43:02 +0100] "GET /hobbit/gifs/green-recent.gif HTTP/1.1" 304 - " http://lscopy02/hobbit/Citrix-Server/Citrix-Server.html"; "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; de; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008120122 Firefox/3.0.5" 10.45.96.94 - - [16/Jan/2009:08:43:02 +0100] "GET /hobbit/menu/menu.js HTTP/1.1" 304 - "http://lscopy02/hobbit/Citrix-Server/Citrix-Server.html"; "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; de; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008120122 Firefox/3.0.5" 10.45.96.94 - - [16/Jan/2009:08:43:02 +0100] "GET /hobbit/gifs/bkg-green.gif HTTP/1.1" 304 - " http://lscopy02/hobbit/Citrix-Server/Citrix-Server.html"; "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; de; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008120122 Firefox/3.0.5" 10.45.96.94 - - [16/Jan/2009:08:43:02 +0100] "GET /hobbit/menu/menu_items.js HTTP/1.1" 304 - " http://lscopy02/hobbit/Citrix-Server/Citrix-Server.html"; "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; de; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008120122 Firefox/3.0.5" 10.45.96.94 - - [16/Jan/2009:08:43:02 +0100] "GET /hobbit/menu/menu_tpl.js HTTP/1.1" 304 - "http://lscopy02/hobbit/Citrix-Server/Citrix-Server.html"; "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; de; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008120122 Firef error_log: [Fri Jan 16 08:39:10 2009] [notice] Apache/2.2.8 (Linux/SUSE) mod_ssl/2.2.8 OpenSSL/0.9.8g PHP/5.2.6 with Suhosin-Patch configured -- resuming normal operations [Fri Jan 16 08:39:25 2009] [error] [client 10.45.96.94] File does not exist: /srv/www/htdocs/bb.html [Fri Jan 16 08:39:49 2009] [error] [client 10.45.96.94] File does not exist: /home/hobbit/server/www/NT/W2K-Steinfurt/NT/hobbit-cgi, referer: http://lscopy02/hobbit/NT/W2K-Steinfurt/NT/W2K-Steinfurt.html [Fri Jan 16 08:41:39 2009] [error] [client 127.0.0.2] Directory index forbidden by Options directive: /srv/www/htdocs/ [Fri Jan 16 08:41:59 2009] [error] [client 10.45.96.94] File does not exist: /home/hobbit/server/www/Citrix-Server/hobbit-cgi, referer: http://lscopy02/hobbit/Citrix-Server/Citrix-Server.html

The error messages are interesting in that you are getting "File does not exit" errors. Have you verified the paths? One of the more problematic issues being the hobbit-cgi reference...I don't believe it should have the subpage as part of the path. May need some input from Henrik...
