I must be missing something very basic here, but I cannot get hobbit to
monitor a specific service on some Windows 2003 servers.

In bb-hosts I use the PAGE directive to split up Linux and Windows
servers.

In hobbit-clients.cfg I want to check just the Windows servers for a
service called fstats.exe:

PAGE=Windows

        PROC fstats.exe

But this just doesn't work.

I'm 100% sure that is the name of the service, and I already do
something similar (albeit not on the same network) to monitor
sqlservr.exe on some Windows servers but from another hobbit server.

Any ideas what I'm missing?

Thanks.

Hi,

Maybe obvious? Do you have a hobbit client (bbwin, etc...) installed on
the Windows 2003 server?

Thank You,

Yes, I do have it installed, and it reports back all the usual stuff to
the hobbit server.

Thanks.

Hi

if you use CLASS instead of page things should work

here is an example

CLASS=win32
        LOAD 80 90 # Load threholds are in %
        PROC BBWin.exe 1 1
        PORT STATE=LISTENING MIN=0 TRACK=Listen TEXT=Listen
        LOG %.* %^error.* COLOR=red #IGNORE=TermServDevices \(
        LOG %.* %^warning.* COLOR=yellow IGNORE=%.*TermServDevices.*
        LOG %.* %^failure.* COLOR=yellow

Hi all,

I've noticed that when windows services flag as red the message is a
little misleading

  POS_4_341647 is started/automatic - want started/automatic

I've checked this service and it's state is actually stopped/automatic.
Is there a way to get the message to correctly reflect this?

I'm running the client in central mode so I'm not sure if this is a
BBWIN issue or a Xymon issue.

What's showing in the actual service listing below the status summary?

Xymon issue, when you're running in central mode.

What Xymon version are you using ? I have a vague recollection that
something like this was fixed a while ago.

And could you please send me the "client data" file (should be available
from the link at the bottom of the status display) ?

Regards,
Henrik
