Hi All,

In Collector server side file named “bb-hosts” I configured following KPIs.
I have around 50+ KPIs.

If I configure like as follows:

group-only conn|AAAAA|BBBBB|CCCCCC|DDDDDD|EEEEEE|FFFFFF|GGGGG|HHH|JJJJJJ|KKKK
  Rating

Then all KPIs are displaying one single line as follows:

Rating conn AAAAA BBBBB CCCCCC DDDDDD EEEEEE
FFFFFF GGGGG HHH JJJJJJ KKKK

hostname * * * *
    • * * * * * *

I want to display as follows:

Rating conn AAAAA BBBBB CCCCCC

hostname * * * *

                      DDDDDD EEEEEE FFFFFF

                           *                 *               *

                       GGGGG HHH JJJJJJ KKKK

                           *                 *        *          *

Where in the above mention all stars(*) are xymon status icon.

Kindly help me out how can I achieve the same.

With Thanks & Regards,
Jayanta.

Greetings, I need to know how to flush the cache / folder where xymon keeps its outgoing sms's. On occasion my server will experience an issue and will over the course of an entire day send out hundreds of text messages for an issue that was resolved early in the morning. Sometimes it will send the same messages over and over again, which is what has been happening since yesterday morning. The same 20 text messages have been sent to my phone 25 times now.
How can I purge the outstand messages that have yet to be sent?

SMS is not a part of Xymon, so you must be using an external application for this. You need to check the specific application or service that you are using to send SMS. Start by checking in alerts.cfg (hobbit-alerts.cfg) which script is run for SMS alerts.

My alerts.cfg lines say format=sms, but if I recall they are just emails that sent to the phones (to an address like user-d2a614b85a0f@xymon.invalid<mailto:user-d2a614b85a0f@xymon.invalid>) in sms format, correct?
So if it is email, is there a flushable queue?

Are the e-mails sent to some kind of mail-to-SMS service provider? If that is the case, my guess is that the queue buildup is at the service provider, your e-mails should be sent almost instantly.

Emailing txt.att.net or vztext.com (something like that) is an AT&T or VZW
email -> SMS service. The user in the email address is the destination
phone number.

We've seen some HORRIBLE delays with AT&T email-to-SMS paging this
last year. Longest was almost 24 hours. Check your mail logs to see if
the emails have left your system

(I don't know if xymon even has a queue, I think it all just goes
straight to sendmail or whatever you're running)

I used AT&T for years, no problems ever (while I was in coverage). I am
using VZW and have problems when I'm in a poor coverage area (hours of
delay).

About a week ago I sent email from gmail to both the txt & mms
destinations at AT&T. The txt was almost instantaneous, the mms
message took about 6 hours.

What were those two addresses? I believe txt.att.net is sms, so that leaves
mms unless I am incorrect.

AT&T is usually pretty good but we had two really bad outages this
year. I'd have to dig back for the first one but the second one was
Feb 23/24. We were seeing an 11 hour delay on the old AT&T Cingular
gateway and 18 hours on the AT&T Gateway.
