Previously posted the below but did not get a response.

So is xymon systemd capable or not? If so where can I find the required files? Help is appreciated.

Somehow I am missing the required files for systemd. I found nothing in etc/default or in etc/sysconfig. There was no .service file either.

Lifted the .service file from Source Forge but that is not sufficient. I suppose there are other files but I can't seem to find them. Other than this issue my install went well and xymon is up and running. (great product!)

My system is RH enterprise Linux 7.2. Xymon is 4.3.27 running on a zSeries. Thanks.

Hi Ken,

Depends on what you are using, if it's provided or not.

If you're building from source, then at this time the upstream source does
not include systemd service/unit files by default (J.C. can elaborate on if
this support is coming in 4.4 or not, or in future versions).

If you're using J.C.'s Terabithia Xymon RPMs (as I am with my RHEL 7 Xymon
server), then he provides the systemd service/unit files in the RPMs (
http://terabithia.org/rpms/xymon/).

Either way, you can still find the systemd files that J.C. uses in his
Terabithia Xymon RPMs here: http://terabithia.org/rpms/xymon/scripts/
(along with other init scripts and config files). Not sure if they are
completely up-to-date based on what is in the latest Terabithia RPM for
RHEL 7, but I think they should work. Of course, YMMV.

Thanks.

IMHO this can be added at a anytime and does not need to wait for a
new 4.x branch or so, at least compared to what kind of features have
been added to the 4.3.x branch in the past. ;-)

I wonder why the .service file is not in the upstream sources yet
since it seems to come from J.C.

Having had a look at it, I noticed that it at least contains some
distro-specific path like /etc/sysconfig/.

So, J.C.: Please try to generalise the .service file and then also
ship it upstream so that other distributions can benefit from it,
too. :-)
