I'm using CentOS 5.3 64bit with xymon-4.3.0-beta2
It seems that when on bb-hosts there is config where there are short similar names, the first connection test fail. This means that the ping of aa trought ip 1.2.3.4 fail
for to reproduce the problem put on bb-hosts
1.2.3.4 aa #
1.2.3.5 aa1 #
1.2.3.6 aa2 #
after a while the check conn of aa go to red
on the server shell you are able to run ping,fping,hobbitping trought aa and it works. However the xymon check fail
fping -Ae 1.2.3.4
1.2.3.4 is alive (0.17 ms)
it seems that there is a walktrhought for bypass the problem
if you put aa host after aa2 the check go back green
