Hi all. It might look a dumy question. But is there any smart way to monitor port connection from agent machine to some other server (can from that machine connect to other machine using certain port)? I know it can be done using netstat or telnet, but I am not good at that, so any help is welcome P.S. servers is on UNIX OS (Solaris) Ricardas

man hobbit-clients.cfg, see PORTS section. If you need more assistance, you need to provide more details on what you are actually trying to monitor. Regards, Buchan

Hi Martin, I just took a quick peek into the file and it is a perl script that says in the description: <xynagios> runs a Nagios check, and reports its output in a way compatible with the Xymon (Hobbit, BB) monitoring system. The Xymon test name is taken from the plugin output if it starts with test_name <OK|WARNING|CRITICAL|ERROR|UNKNOWN>. Otherwise, the basename of the plugin filename is used. A check prefix is removed for brevity. So it seems you can run Nagios tests in XYmon with this script. And since this is a perl script you might only need some additional modules that can be found in the Debian package libsysadm-install-perl and maybe there is a similar package for Red Hat too. I tested and works great. Xynagios is a very good script, thanks a lot to the developer Christoph Berg. There are others plugins on the package. In my opinion this is excelent! Should be available at http://xymonton.trantor.org/doku.php too. Regards, Mario.
