Hi all

Has anyone got DEVMON working on RHEL9? I'm working with
https://github.com/bonomani/devmon but can't get any SNMP polling working.

The current server is RHEL6 and working (mostly) fine but I need to get off
RHEL6/7.

Thanks

Hi Colin,

Let me assist you as I try to maintain Devmon the best I can on the repo you mentioned. I use Devmon on the latest version of Debian, and it should work for RHEL too. However, I haven't tested it myself, so it's possible you've found a bug. You can always try Devmon in debug mode by using the |-de| flag. The first step should be to discover the SNMP host in the host file, so please use the |-read| flag.

If you have any further questions or need assistance, please don't hesitate to contact me directly via email or to open an issue in my repository.

Regards, Bruno

Hi Colin ,

I've got it OK on RHEL 8.5. Have you installed all the following utils?

perl-SNMP_Session.noarch
perl(Math::BigInt::Calc)"
perl-Net-SNMP
net-snmp-utils
net-snmp-perl

Hi all

Thank you for the pointers.

I've confirmed that all the required Perl modules are installed.

For testing purposes, I've trimmed /var/lib/devmon/hosts.db to a single
switch.

When I look at devmon.log:
2024-02-29T12:11:33.596+0800|ERROR|snmp |3371599| 408|Fork:20
Device:my_switch Try:1 Err:
2024-02-29T12:12:33.280+0800|ERROR|snmp |3371599| 408|Fork:9
Device:my_switch Try:1 Err:
2024-02-29T12:13:33.138+0800|ERROR|snmp |3371599| 408|Fork:26
Device:my_switch Try:1 Err:
2024-02-29T12:14:32.893+0800|ERROR|snmp |3371599| 408|Fork:50
Device:my_switch Try:1 Err:

Bruno, can I DM the devmon debug log file? I'd rather not make those logs
public.

Thanks

I currently have the same scenario,

Devmon is "working", some test are updated, but many are not and I have the same "Forks" in the devmon log as well stating:
|WARN |snmp     | 2767| 375|Fork:1 Device:<one-of-my-devices> Try:1 Msg:Timeout at discovery stage:2. will retry until success
No answer for oid:1.3.6.1.4.1.2272.1.4.8.2.1.4 on device:<one-of-my-switches>

But 100% the device does answer with that OID manually via snmpwalk from the same server (SRC).
