Hi,

Can anyone explain to me how to disable Hobbit to send mail with root user? I've define an alternate mailaccount and receive mail with it but Hobbit server keep sending mail with root user and this is of course block because the Hobbit server is not a member of a 2K3 Windows Domain.

Thanks,

Hobbit sends alert with the identity of the user who's running it.
Are you running Hobbit as root?

In your startup script for hobbit you should have something like
su hobbituser -c "your-path-to-hobbit/server/bin/hobbit.sh start"

The 'su hobbituser' part above should run the hobbit server and all of its
helpers as the user hobbituser resulting in email being sent from that user
instead of root.

I don't think so... I'm running the VMWare Demo of the Hobbit with Exim mail and relay this to a Exchange 2003 mail domain...

Hi All

Once again I have a question. If I want to mail alerts in hobbit how to
specify which mail server to use. I can set up the alerts but I cant
find where I configure the required smtp server. Very basic but so
essential. Help anyone...

Thanks a million in advance.

Regards

Neil

Setup your relay host in sendmail.cf (i.e. DShostname where hostname is your smtp server).
