RSS Feeds

All, I just figured I would pass along some info in case anyone is looking to integrate RSS feeds into local Intranets or other sources. I added the following line to the Header section of bb_header to create the live bookmarks option in Mozilla. <link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="RSS" href="$BBWEBHOST/hobbit/bb2.rss"> I also found this great PHP script to convert the RSS feed into HTML so that we could easily port it into our Intranet. Pretty handy for those that don't want to write Javascript to do it. http://www.feedforall.com/free-php-script.htm It is called using pretty basic options in the URL. Just point to the .php file with XMLFILE="<URL to bb2.rss> You can add the TEMPLATE option to customize the look of the output. It just looks into a standard HTML file with a few identified variables for customization. Pretty straightforward. Sorry if this is a duplicate, just thought that I would share. Robert

Greetings - I have a new installation of Hobbit v4.2.0 (with all-in-one patch), and it is working VERY well. I had been running Big Brother for over 10 years, it was showing its limits (performance), and I REALLY like the flexibility and features in Hobbit. But here is my question: We are using the RSS page option to generate some status pages, for a custom "traffic light" in our HelpDesk and Network Staff areas (very slick - used BB prior to this). RSS works great, easy to configure. Would it be possible to have an RSS generated with a user-configurable time-period for a "report" listing? My director would like to use RSS in his browser, and see what has happened "recently", rather than just what exists "now". Possible? Probable? Not necessary? Thanks for any comments, and for a great product. -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Jon Dustin - Network Specialist University of Southern Maine Portland, ME
