Hi,

I installed the beta3 in my test env. and conn is always red for all hosts. (all Solaris 9/10)
I choose to use Solaris /usr/sbin/ping as the "FPING" bin when I conf/compiled, nothing complained.
Running manually works OK.
-bash-3.00$ ./xymoncmd
2010-11-30 09:19:15 Using default environment file /usr/local/xymon/server/etc/xymonserver.cfg
$ $FPING sunws1
sunws1 is alive
$

CONN page:

Tue Nov 30 09:35:18 2010 conn NOT ok

Service conn on sunws1 is not OK : Host does not respond to ping

System unreachable for 3440 poll periods (1044186 seconds)

I find nothing in the logs.

Any ideas?

You cannot just use any "ping" tool - it has to be xymonping- or
fping-compatible. The default Solaris "ping" is not.

Xymon expects a ping tool that will accept a list of IP-adresses
to check on stdin, and writes the result on stdout in the form
  172.16.10.100 is alive (0.03 ms)
or
  172.16.10.38 is unreachable

As Henrik states use xymonping or better install fping from sunfreeware.com ( a little advice; set-uid the program) since using fping via RBAC didn't work for me. (I still testing why on xymon-4.2.3 Solaris Sparc 10 u6).

Have a nice day!

Hi,

Why is the configure then allowing me to use /usr/sbin/ping?
It even tests it and acknowledge it is working.
Maybe a text explaining this in the configure file would be nice.

I'll change to xymonping.

Hi,

xymonping works just perfect, thanks for the clarification.
