I know I helped kick off the renewed interest in Xymon, but I've just
been a bit too busy with other things to dig in deeper at the moment.
I'm watching and reading everything going on, though.

Keep up the good work everyone :)

Hi Mark,

Thank you for your long-term support. You and Roland have contributed a great deal over the years.

At this stage, you and Roland likely have the clearest view of what is effectively working from a distribution maintenance perspective. We seem to agree that the priority is to consolidate your work and Roland’s work first. It would therefore be very helpful if you and Roland could review each other’s implementation, while of course doing what you can, as we all understand that each of us has other priorities as well.

We have put in place a policy requiring at least one reviewer in addition to the author before pushing new code, but in practice it remains difficult for people who are not as deeply involved as you and Roland are to properly review your work. (so this appears to be something that should be improved too)

During my recent experimentation, I also identified the need for a more structured long-term approach. However, this should be addressed separately and defined properly. In practice, it seems to me that this should not block us from first re-establishing a unified baseline for you and Roland. This merge would already be an achievement.

Hi Mark,

I noticed that several of your PRs are currently marked as draft, and I just wanted to confirm whether that is intentional.

I usually understand “draft” to mean that further work is planned and that the PR is not yet ready for review or merge. At the same time, some of them look complete and well structured, so I was unsure whether they are meant to stay in draft for now.

When you have a moment, could you check whether some of them can be moved to review?

I've removed draft status from #37, #39, #40, and #41 so they can proceed with the normal approval and merge workflow.

I need to do another full pass on the larger pull requests to see where they stand and if they need any cleanup.

Hi Mark,

Just a quick update :)

#37 approved (will be merged with milestone 4.3.32)
#39 approved and merged
#40 approved and merged
#41 is not approved yet due to a small typo :)

I also created an issue summarizing the current status of all FreeBSD patches: https://github.com/xymon-monitoring/xymon/issues/103

This is based on my own analysis, so some parts may be inaccurate. When you have a moment, feel free to review it and check off what is already done.
