Error "Fatal signal caught!"

For quite some time now, my Xymon server has been showing "Program crashed"
and "Fatal signal caught" on the second line of the xymond_alert status
page. It shows up as a purple alarm. I haven't been able to figure out
what caused it. I've even gone so far as to upgrade the OS, Apache, Xymon,
etc.

Recently, after those updates I mentioned, it added a purple alarm to
xymonlaunch, too. The message is "Program crashed" and "Fatal signal
caught!".

Any suggestions on how to debug this would be greatly appreciated.

It means your Xymon alert module has crashed - once. Since the status is purple (= not being updated regularly) it only happened this once.

You must clear this type of events manually, see https://www.xymon.com/help/xymon-tips.html#droptest

Thanks for the info. Based on your information, I did the following:

xymon 127.0.0.1 "drop monitor1.cairodurham.org xymond_alert"

xymon 127.0.0.1 "drop monitor1.cairodurham.org xymonlaunch"

/usr/local/etc/rc.d/xymon-server restart

Now the web UI doesn't even have the xymond_alert and xymonlaunch columns
at all. Is that expected behavior?
