Todays snapshot - bbgen crashes
list Charles Jones
I know that snapshots are not considered stable, but I just wanted to report that I grabbed todays snapshot (dated Aug 10 00:05), and noticed that bbgen is crashing. If there is anything I can do to help troubleshoot, let me know. P.S. I "upgraded" to this snapshot in an attempt to resolve a problem I was having with a previous snapshot, where I was not receiving recovery pages.

Others have reported the same - this should fix it, I think. (In case anyone wonders why I've been so quiet on the list lately, it is because I'm having my summer holidays right now - so the family needs some attention :-) Also I've been lucky - we've had nothing but rain for the past 7 weeks, but now we're finally getting some nice summer weather). Thanks Henrik! That did indeed fix the problem. I also just noticed that hobbitfetch also started acting up, but let's wait until your well-deserved holiday is over before we look into that :) Thanks again! -Charles

I just wanted to add, lest I forget about it later, that I fixed the hobbitfetch issue by copying my hobbitfetch binary from another hobbit installation which is version 4.2. I now remember doing this same fix awhile back, but I overwrote it when I tried the latest snapshot. Anyhow currently bbgen and hobbitfetch are no longer crashing, so my fire is out for the moment :) -Charles

I just wanted to follow up on this now that Henrik is back from his well-deserved vacation. Has the patch that fixed the bbgen crash issue been rolled into the most recent snapshot? Is there anything else I can do to help debug why hobbitfetch binary from 4.2 works but any newer one crashes? I guess one thing I could do is upgrade to the latest snapshot, and see if there are any issues. -Charles
