Hobbit question for delaying warnings
list Dave Khemraj
Hi, We have windows systems reporting to the hobbit server. The memory test for them change frequently from green to yellow back to green, it does this all day throughout the day. I was wondering if there is a way to sort of set a rule that states if the alarm has been, say yellow for 15minutes, then report it to the non-green hobbit page, if it is less then 15 minutes, then do not report it (show it) on the hobbit non-green page. Thanks in advance for the help, Dev Khemraj

Dev, In you hobbit-alerts.cfg set DURATION > 15M and that will do the trick. Example: COLOR=YELLOW DURATION>15M Dave

Er, no, it won't. It will only delay when the e-mail goes out, not when the box shows up on the all non-green page. Thanks, Larry Barber On Fri, Sep 19, 2008 at 1:06 PM, David Gilmore <

At one point Henrik was talking about expanding the badTEST functionality (see bb-hosts man page) so that it would work with non-network tests. I don't know if he ever did this, though.

Is the memory utilization hovering around the memory threshold? If so, just adjust your threshold. Other than that I don't know of anything that specifically does what you want. You might want to take a look at NOPROPYELLOW or badTEST on the bb-hosts man page. They may be of some help.

Hi, Thanks for the suggestion David Gilmore, but Larry Barber is right, it will only delay the emails or pages. The noprod will just stop it completely from showing up on the non-green page, I want it to show up only if the warning (red or yellow) is present for x number of minutes. I will look into the badtest to see if that can do. My thresholds are at 85 and 90, and I do not want to adjust it because it is the 5 minute spikes in the mem usage that are showing up and it varies from yellow to red (86% to 98%). I will stop blabbing now... Thanks again, Much appreciated for the suggestions. Dev Khemraj
