I know little about compiling and coding, but is BBHOME supposed to look
like this?

BBHOME="y/server"

Are you root when you do a make install?

Josh

I don't think the path to BBHOME shoud be a relative path but an absolut path ie start from the rootdirectory

Like this /hobbit/y/server

I've run through this two or three times and with my knowledge/experience it
is perfect. Having said that, I am positive I made some mistakes =)

It looks almost as if every question that comes up asking for a path, you
answered y (for Yes) followed by the path. You're only supposed to enter
the pathname, unless you *really* want the Hobbit runtime to be installed
under a directory called 'y' within the Hobbit source tree.

Also note that a blank response accepts the default mentioned in [ ] square
brackets.
