Perhaps you should try first with the rpms, or with a stable build. Neither am I the biggest linux expert.

I have a 4.2 stable running on another machine, but wanted to play around with the new one, see what is different and such. I should be able to build the new one on a fresh system, right?

sure, but sometimes the daily snapshot doesn't work fine. check perhaps to compile the stable one first. if everything is ok, try with the daily snapshot. then check for the error messages in the log directory.

bb.html, bb2.html, and bbnk.html are generated by hobbit when it is running. I'm not sure about the symlink, but I'm assuming it will be created by hobbit if it doesn't exist - since it is a symlink to a non-existent file at original install time.
