OK, I'm not the type who gets offended easily, but this did make my
blood pressure go up a bit:

1. 4.2.1 tar ball is here:

2. 4.2.1 Readme file.

TJ, I hope You did this with the best of intentions. But I'm really
offended that You did it without at least telling me about it first.
My personal e-mail address is well known, and dropping me a mail
first would have been the polite thing to do. If You'd done that,
such a release could have been done quickly with my "official"
blessing.

Instead, You've made me angry and created a mess - there's now one
more place where some random version of Hobbit can be found. And on
top of it all You've given it the look of an official patch by
putting a "4.2.1" label on it.

All I'm asking for is that all of you *think* about what you do.
If you're frustrated about the next release not arriving, do
something to move it forward - i.e. grab the current source-trunk
from the Subversion archive, use it and send bug reports. Or
patches. Or write docs.

Henrik,

Oh the joys of releasing your well maintained product to the masses :)
The vigilante actions remind me of some of the internal antics at the company I work for. True thinkers are often overshadowed by the impatient masses. I feel your pain....

My intention was to provide a solution to silence the complain.
Stand corrected. I didn't ask for your blessing/permisson first.

I am not frustrated of "next realease not coming". I was hoping
to answer the question of why not putting all-in-one patche into a source tree
to relieve the patching headaches.

again My apology to create this tension due to my bad judgement.

effort should really spend on docs, patche and bug reports.

Would it not be sensible to remove it? I don't know if that can be done
or not (don't see why not though), that way we don't have to worry about
an odd version floating around. Maybe put a README in its place stating
that the patch was released incorrectly, or some such?

TJ has been a good, solid contributor to the project for a long time. I have every expectation that the work he did in creating his package, he did in good faith, with the best of intentions.

Thanks for the support.

A mistake is a mistake. My intention was to help but execution was wrong.

Lets move on (and forgive my mistake) and direct the energy to make hobbit better.

However, coordination would be better. Thus my new thread on the hobbitmon-
