Hi Henrik

i'm sure this question was asked before, but cant find it in the archive..

under bb/larrd, i used to compare graphs from differents hosts, with larrd-graphs.cgi
(mainly to see that load-balancing was done correctly..)

is there a way to do this under hobbit ?
if not, no problem; but it'll be nice to have this feature one day :)

actually, i think the display should be done a different way than with larrd-graphs.cgi :
could it be possible (and not to hard to code) to display several DS from different host on the same graph ?
(so i could really easy compare for example the cpu load of different host.. using LINE and not AREA fo course..)

Hi,

The cross host graph linking of bb/butter was really nice (it really was a
tastier healthier version of laard). I would really like to see this type of
cross linking in hobbit/rrd.

Another nice feature would be allowing the height and width of images to
specified as CGI parameters.

Jason.

I did some work on this, and have just finished the changes needed to

a) let you define the default size of the graphs through two settings
   in hobbitserver.cfg (RRDHEIGHT and RRDWIDTH);

b) modify the graph URL so you can choose any size you like dynamically.

I've taken a look at your idea, so let me know what you think of this:

Load avg. comparison:
http://www.hswn.dk/hobbit-cgi/hobbitgraph.sh?host=voodoo.hswn.dk&host=fenris.hswn.dk&service=la&graph_width=576&graph_height=120&action=menu

CPU % utilization comparison (from the vmstat data):
http://www.hswn.dk/hobbit-cgi/hobbitgraph.sh?host=voodoo.hswn.dk&host=fenris.hswn.dk&service=la1&graph_width=576&graph_height=120&action=menu

I've done a couple of other service definitions - ram, swap, users,
procs - but this should give you the general idea.

You can of course compare more than one host by adding more "&host=..." items in the URL.

Things like zoom should also work (I think it's broken now, but it did
work an hour ago...)

Henrik

Nice... Very nice.... My boss has been asking me for something like
this for a few months now.... :)

Hi henrik,

yes, this is it :)))

it looks like you have to write new definitions (i tried service=tcp on your demo site, didnt work)
but i guess it would be pretty easy to have some kind of abstration for not having to rewrite the definitions..

ohh, one thing thow, since i'll be using those to compare apache trends (and oher custom trends..)
it would be useful to have a total and/or an average of the selected host (aggregate under mrtg..); just displayed as GPRINT

yes, i know.., i'm asking to much ;p

Hi, Can I get some assistance with configuring the format of the
SCRIPT command for hobbit-alerts ?

I have a script that sends an sms message with the following syntax

/ext/sms/sms.pl -c /ext/sms/send -m "Sms message here" number

I have tried this but it doesn't work,

SCRIPT /ext/sms/sms.pl -c /ext/sms/send -m "FORMAT=SMS" number

any ideas ?

See: http://www.hswn.dk/hobbit/help/hobbit-alerts.html#scripts

Write a tiny wrapper script which is a valid argument for the
SCRIPT-option. Number is an argument for the wrapper script. So the
correct syntax would be:

SCRIPT /home/hobbit/bin/sendsms number FORMAT=SMS

and the script /home/hobbit/bin/sendsms should contain your pager stuff.
