Take a look at the installation notes. On your Hobbit web page, select Help, then "Installing Hobbit". Scroll down to "Configuring your webserver". That section tells you how to add users to the Apache password file. Ralph Mitchell On Mon, Aug 11, 2008 at 3:26 PM, taihia MAITERE

It's an Apache password, which would be, in general, different from the hobbit login account on the server. If you forgot your Apache password, or never created an Apache account for hobbit, see the the Apache documentation, particularly the "htpasswd" command. Take a look at the installation notes. On your Hobbit web page, select
Help, then "Installing Hobbit". Scroll down to "Configuring your
webserver". That section tells you how to add users to the Apache password
file.

It should be easy enough to do...and I believe there is something in the archives about it. As long as you know how to set Apache up with LDAP it's pretty straightforward. =G=

You have only provided authentication, the second step is authorization. You need to either put an .htaccess file in the admin directory or, better, to put the authorizations for each Apache directory in the Apache configuration file.

If so, it would be done at the Apache level, or whatever Web server you decide to use.

I did this on SLES 10 as a demonstration for a conference presentation.
In SLES 10:
In /etc/sysconfig/apache2 add:
ldap authnz_ldap
to APACHE_MODULES=
In the Apache configuration (hobbit-apache.conf):
ScriptAlias /hobbit-seccgi/ "/home/hobbit/cgi-secure/"
Directory "/home/hobbit/cgi-secure">
AllowOverride None
Options ExecCGI Includes
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
AuthType Basic
AuthName "Hobbit Administration"
AuthBasicProvider ldap
AuthzLDAPAuthoritative off
AuthLDAPBindDN cn=LDAPSRV,o=VMAssist,c=US
AuthLDAPBindPassword ********
AuthLDAPURL ldap://192.168.1.60/o=VMAssist,c=US?uid?sub NONE
Require valid-user
</Directory>
restart Apache.
This process worked for me with the LDAP Server on z/VM (which is IBM Tivoli Directory Server), but should be similar if not the same for OpenLDAP, and others. Other distros may have a different way to add modules to Apache.
Standard disclaimers apply....

Currently have it integrated to our AD pointing to a specific group... Works well once you figure out how to get it pointed at the right bit of Active Directory.. Mike
