Hi,

I have hobbit 4.02 installed and functional and am trying to integrate
MRTG with it, I decided to use the "integrating MRTG data into Hobbit"
option but the graphs being generated are showing no data.
I have set the debug snpo and log options for mrtg and can see the data
being gathered from the router and writen to the rrd file so that
appears to be working ok.

Any help offered would be appreciated.

Regards

Craig Boyce

I have integrated MRTG using the "old" method. Well, sort of...

One way of doing this is to use the latest "bb-mrtg.pl" script from deadcat. Run this script from your bb-client that runs on your hobbit server.

You can use this trick for any "bb-server" scripts that you need to migrate to hobbit (except for LARRD).

The bb-mrtg.pl script has install instructions in it.

I am not sure if the integrated hobbit version will automatically alarm when thresholds are breached, the bb-mrtg.pl version will.

Morning,
I'm currently experimenting with the usage of Hobbit as a Linux
monitoring tool for the System Admins. My question is, I have installed
Hobbit several times, and using bb4 clients, I am unable to get the full
set of LARRD graphs I would like.

Is there some sort of guide to enlighten myself on setting up the LARRD
graphs within Hobbit?

Thanks,

What graphs do you want and which which of those are missing? Did you properly configure the bb client to send the data you are interested in graphing?

Larrd graphing is built into hobbit, so you don't have to do any heavy lifting to get it working. It may take some tweaking to get things to appear the way you want it to, and in those cases I'd check out hobbitgraph.cfg and its manpage.

I am using the even older method of bbmrtg.sh from deadcat.net, although
I modified it a bit to use the routers-2.cgi script for graph generation
as it produces better graphs IMO.

It is also nice because it didn't require that I modify my mrtg cfg
files. I would be happy to send along the bbmrtg.sh file that I am
using.

How do I tell the client to send LARRD information? Also, do the clients
need to have RRDtool installed on them as well? or will simply
installing the bb client suffice?

Thanks,

Take a look at the hobbitd_larrd man page... (look for data and status messages)

No, you do not need RRD installed on any client.

Detailed documentation for migrating a customised BB LARRD setup to hobbit does not exist yet.
