Apache configuration

Hi, I just installed Apache 2.2 on Ubuntu and I'm trying to configure the Apache server so that it sees Hobbit. I've never used Apache before and i'm having a very difficult time figuring out how to get this setup. It seems like it should be easy but I haven't been able to find any documentation that's helped me to do it yet. If you can point me in the right direction I'd be very grateful. Thanks! Don't know what you've tried or what results you've gotten. There's install doc at http://hobbitmon.sourceforge.net/docs/install.html Key for Red Hat type distros is copying or linking hobbit-apache.conf from ~hobbit/server/etc to /etc/httpd/conf.d (which I think is /etc/apache2/conf.d on Debian-type distros).

Thanks for the info. I'm making a little progress here. I copied hobbit-apache.conf from usr/lib/hobbit/server/etc to etc/apache2/conf.d and now I get the page: Index of/ and it shows the file apache2-default. I'm sure there's some little thing that I still have to do right?

If you copied all of the configuratoin from hobbit-apache.conf you'll need to browser to /hobbit for the main page. Are you using the VirtualHost directive at all? On 10/5/07, user-95b96d3df9e3@xymon.invalid <

Yes I am. If you request /hobbit/ from that Apache server it knows to read /var/lib/hobbit/www/ (I assume you meant lib and not liv) Straight from the 2.2 docs: "Note that if you include a trailing / on the url-path then the server will require a trailing / in order to expand the alias. That is, if you use Alias /icons/ /usr/local/apache/icons/ then the url /icons will not be aliased." If you are not using VirtualHost at all then please make sure you let us know. This Alias is server wide if not placed within a VirtualHost, obviously, so try going to the http://server/hobbit/ URL and then post the tail of access_log and error_log (normally in /var/log/httpd) Josh On 10/5/07, user-95b96d3df9e3@xymon.invalid <
