After messing around and messing around trying to set graph timeframes
and vertical axis limits, I just had a duh! moment. You don't need
that.

Those little magnifying glass icons? Yeah, I had clicked on them before
expecting to zoom in on the graph. But it never zoomed in ... it just
showed the same graph again on a seperate webpage. I figured it was
some broken feature. My duh! moment just came when I accidently drug my
mouse cursor over part of the "non zoomed" graph and noticed, "Hey! I
wonder why it highlighted only that small portion of the graph?!"
Release the mouse button and it becomes very evident why. DUH!!!

How is it possible for me to have been so stupid?! :-o

Yeah, that is great and you can do more with the time scale and size in the URL. With less than a minute of editing the URL, I can print off a monthly CPU chart that I used to spend an hour creating in Windows Excel.

Odd ack problem

I have a machine that went red for CPU

It generated an "cookie" of 371004 , and paged reciepent1. It was then ACK'd
for 8 hours. CPU recovered after 2 hours, then went red again. This
generated a new "cookie" of 344975, which we could no longer ACK because in
the hobbitdboard it had the "old" ack data and time. This new "cookie" then
escalated (because we could not ack this event)

Is there some logic I need to look at in do_alert where something recovers
and can't be ack'd again?

Is there a way to see all non-acknowledge events? I'm having a probem with my server where the "Acknowledge Alerts" page doesn't seem to show everything.

Some stuff shows up, other things never seem to. Right now I have the option of Acking a Yellow CPU that started at about 3am, but I don't have the option of Acking a Red Disk that started at 9am.

I tried seeing what the CGI did, but it's an executable, not a shell script which makes things harder. I figured before delving into source, I'd just ask.

Thanks,

I think the "All non-green view" page would show you what you are looking

Err... sorry, I guess I should have been more clear.

I know about the non-green Systems page. I meant something that might hopefully duplicate the code of the Ack page.

Currently, on my non-green page, I have 13 yellows. About half of the yellows are for things that do send notifications (which worked fine), but none of them show up in the Ack page, even though none are acknowledged.

There are also 3 reds. Only one of those is set to notify. It is the red disk from my previous email. It did eventually show up on the Ack page, and so I Acked it. Now it appears with a checkbox.... but it still appears on the Ack page as the only item there.

I can't quite figure out how the Ack page determines what to show, and why. But it definitely doesn't always show things that I think it should be showing....

To see all yellow and red alerts go to "Main view" before clicking on the
"Acknowledge Alert" item then you should see all your alerts. This is the
same behaviour as you will see in Reporting etc., where it only selects
certain clients based on the page you wer last viewing.

Really? I just went through all of the various report web pages from a
variety of starting pages (main view, sub page, non-green) and they all
are exactly the same.

One odd note... is for the "Config report" page, it has "1 hosts
included", and that happens to the the same host that is currently showing
on my Ack page. (Even though I'm pretty sure there are others that should
also show up.)

OK that got me thinking about cookies... It does set a cookie whenever you
look at a specific host/service page. And that's the only thing that
shows up when you go to acknowledge pages. But I tend to acknowledge
directly after getting my page, and don't often look at the host/service
pages except when looking for graphs or historical information.

Reading up on bb-ack, --no-cookies is the behavior I wanted. Set that,
and now everything is working the way I originally expected.

Hurm... except now that page is kinda spammy looking. Is there a way to
set it to only show non-acknowledged stuff? It shows things even if there
is already a "check" on the main screen.

One thing I notice, is that from reading the docs, it seems to imply that
if I'm looking at my main page before going to the Ack page, the Ack page
should show all non-green hosts on that page. But it doesn't, it only
shows the last host that I looked at a host/service page for. Going to
subpages shows the same thing.

Do others see that same behavior?

It looks like my options are either A) one host at a time, whichever host
you last looked at a specific service or B) all yellow/red/purple
statuses.
