Why would you need to update that client? Whatever it is, there is no built in way for the Xymon server to modify config files of the clients, sorry! Xymon server does support "client binary update" ,see http://www.hswn.dk/hobbit/help/manpages/man1/clientupdate.1.html I am thinking of only upgrade hobbitclients.cfg file in a newer version of xymon client binary tar ball got created on xymon server. a possible workaround solution but better than login into thousand of machines to do the change. tj

You *can* use the client update feature, but you will have to fiddle with it. The client update feature is designed to update the entire client, not a single file. But you can get the right result if you push out the same client with the updated file. Not sure what would happen if you tried to push a tarball with only one file in it. And you have to have a different "package" for each operating system, and the automatic updates don't work on all operating systems -- notably AIX. I have no idea if BBWin supports the automated update or not. GLH

Josh, I would need to update as we are implementing a monitoring script on all servers. And the only change to do is in the clientlaunch.cfg file. Rgds, Sanu On Thu, Jan 29, 2009 at 3:46 AM, Josh Luthman

Just discover one catch documented at here http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/System_Monitoring_with_Xymon/Other_Docs/HOWTO#What_need_to_be_done_.3F All the external scripts on hobbit client need to be reviewed and to make sure they can send messages to two hobbit server.
