Alerting when host goes green
list Josh Luthman
I have a fallback IP that is specified on a device that will only be used in the event it can't reach the DHCP server. Should it have this problem, I (obviously :) would like to know! I am thinking about having it disabled until OK, then just alert me when it changes to green. Does anyone have a better solution? Perhaps something that won't sit on the menu blue for eternity? If you specify your IP as "dialup" it will be "ok" when down, and "green" when up. Then you can alert on "green" without having to fiddle with "disable until OK" every time there is a transition. Just an idea... GLH

Yes -- or black. Not red. works for the conn test only. I don't know that it will solve your problem, but you can try it out and see if it is any help at all.

Hi Josh, You can use "!conn" in your bb-hosts file and this will show the conn green when down The "!" negates a test. Gregory R Shea EMC Corporation

That will be perfect! dialup The keyword "dialup" for a host means that it is OK for it to be off-line - this should not trigger an alert. All network tests will go "clear" upon failure, and any missing reports from e.g. cpu- and disk-status will not go purple when they are not updated. Thanks Greg!
