On my Sol 9 system running unpatch beta.
Ive confirmed there is a problem with hobbitping .
Since the beta (and hbbitping)I got a lots of red conn , I just ran 12 hours using fping with out any
problems . Soon as I turn it back on they started again.. It not for every thing and changes.,
things go red then green again.

Im thinking that if it is not a bug in hobbitping then it maybe a resource problem that I "tune",
since Im not a programmer at all Ive not looked at your code to see what its doing.

IM happy with fping , while hobbitping about 5 times faster , it really doesn't impacted my monitoring,
only using about 30 sec for 419 hosts and 414 test.

if it's not too much trouble, could I ask you to grab the current
hobbitping patch from
http://www.hswn.dk/hobbitsw/betapatches/hobbitping-debugandsource.patch
apply it on your Solaris box and try it out ?

I'm interested to hear if it logs any "send" errors.

Thanks,
Henrik

With the 12-Jun-2006 snapshot I'm still get conn errors there are no error messages in bb-network.log.

However Im wondering if there is now differwnt problem, Im ONLY getting waves of ping failures/recovered on the first
two (three IPs) hosts ; the first being the hobbit server it self! Doing this for 5 minute cycle.

It's a different problem. I have made some changes to hobbitping to make
it behave a bit more like fping, and it has helped. But I also see this
phenomenon where a few hosts are constantly "flapping" between red and
green.

If I cannot figure out what the problem is in a day or two, I will probably change the installation so fping will be the default ping tool, instead of hobbitping.

Henrik
