OT: Anybody Here Use Qpage?

Hi All, We have finally got around to getting a pager for after hours notification. Seems that email to SMS isn't that great when your SMTP gateway is the server in trouble :-) I have downloaded and compiled qpage (http://www.qpage.org), and it seems to work OK - except it throws the following error: bash-3.00# qpage -d -q 60 giving up root privileges becoming user 'daemon' /etc/qpage.cf(4): unexpected: <administrator = user-ee2a9e4eaf57@xymon.invalid> /etc/qpage.cf(6): unexpected: <queuedir = /var/spool/qpage> /etc/qpage.cf(8): unexpected: <modem = zyxel> /etc/qpage.cf(9): unexpected: <device = /dev/cua/a> /etc/qpage.cf(10): unexpected: <initcmd = ATZ> /etc/qpage.cf(11): unexpected: <dialcmd = ATDT> /etc/qpage.cf(13): unexpected: <service = TelecomNZ> /etc/qpage.cf(14): unexpected: <device = zyxel> /etc/qpage.cf(15): unexpected: <phone = 0264001283> /etc/qpage.cf(16): unexpected: <msgprefix = false> /etc/qpage.cf(18): unexpected: <pager = support> /etc/qpage.cf(19): unexpected: <pagerid = 0262749494> /etc/qpage.cf(20): unexpected: <service = TelecomNZ> Error reading configuration file So it seems it can read the config file OK, but just doesn't like the contents. I read the sample in the man page and can't see any issues. I am running on Solaris 9 x86, and compiled qpage from source using gcc 3.4.3 (installed as a package from http://www.blastwave.org). I have emailed the qpage author but have not had a response. Does anyone else here have experience with qpage? Especially getting the config to work! Hi, I was never able to get qpage-3.3 working on AIX, everything looked ok, compiled clean, etc, etc. It's been a long time, but if I remember correctly, it was similar to your problem. The fix for me was going from qpage-3.3, to qpage-3.2, and it worked fine then. You can dl from the same place, just change it to qpage-3.2, ie: http://www.qpage.org/download/qpage-3.2.tar.Z Hope that helps, Al Al Jeffcoat IBM Certified Support Specialist, AIX Enterprise SAN and Storage Administrator System Programmer II

Hi Al, Thanks for the info - sadly, for me qpage 3.2 does the same as 3.3 :-( Cheers, Andy. "Jeffcoat, Al" wrote on 26/04/2005 01:36:16:
