Hello All,

I'm getting random DNS errors on URL's from Hobbit.
There appears to be nothing wrong with DNS.

This is causing pages on production systems, and I'm
getting complaints from folks. I really need a work around
for this.

Thanks....James

James,

Are you using the c-ares resolver libraries from within hobbit... if you
are this could be the cause of the problem.

Check under the known issues from the drop down in the menu it's the
third entry on mine "DNS error reported for network tests"

Hobbit can hit DNS servers pretty hard, causing DNS lookups to
fail when they really should succeed. I always recommend that
you install a local caching DNS server for Hobbit, if you have
an installation with 100+ hosts.

Also, you could try running bbtest-net with the "--no-ares" option
to use the standard resolver library of your OS instead of Hobbit's
built-in DNS lookup code.

Henrik

Good luck Henrik.
Hope all goes well.

I think the worst part of this will be no computers or reading for 4
weeks.
That would kill me. Have you considered how you will maintain your
sanity during this time?
I would need them to put me in an induced coma or something :-)

Maybe you can rig up a voice recognition app, so at least you will still
have email.

Last bit of advice, be very careful. My wife went to hospital once, and came out with a baby. :-)

Cheers

so that you'll enjoy the rest somehow.

Personally, I think I'd see if I could check one of these out of the local
library:

   http://www.amazon.com/Lord-Rings-Trilogy-Gift-Set/dp/1402516274

55 hours of pretty good narration, according to the reviews.

All the best, Henrik.

What happens when you try to execute the above as your normal user inside a
