Info and Trend Columns go purple

Hello,

Was there a patch for the info and trend columns turning purple? I
recall a discussion on it, but cannot find it in my outlook mailbox. I
was doing fine until I started to configure alerting, and now I've got 3
or 4 hosts that have turned purple on these two columns.

TIA

Al Jeffcoat

The quick fix is to add "--no-meta" to the bb-larrdcolumn command in
your hobbitlaunch.cfg, then restart Hobbit.

The real fix is a bit more radical and hasn't been posted yet.

In the info column, we are not seeing contact info anymore (at least,
not since one of the RC's, I think RC4). Mail is however still outgoing
on events.

Is this related? And is there a way to "clean up" the appearance of the
messages? The come into our mailboxes with what looks like html code
that outlook doesn't know what to do with. I saw a note to change to
PLAIN in the hobbit-alerts.cfg file, but wouldn't that drop the link out
of the e-mail also? (Guess I'd like to have my cake and eat it too :)
).

That sounds like one of those "impossible" scenarios. Is there nothing
at all, or does the "No alerts defined" message appear ?

Hobbit doesn't add any HTML to the message, but the status report that
is copied into the message might contain HTML. Especially if it's an
http content-check status, but others do as well (the "vmio" reports,
for instance).

You can always generate your own messages by using a script :-)

You can use htmlmail.pl from deadcat to clean up your e-mail. It will
produce a full html page from the status report and then send that.
Thanks,

I have seen it both ways, and cannot figure out why. For example,
Yesterday, I restarted hobbit, and there was nothing there. Then about
10 minutes later, there was an empty table of "No alerts defined".
About 15 minutes after that, our defined alerts started showing up.
Weird.

I'll dig into it more today, and see what combo I can get.
