IP swap

Hi team, We did a IP swap between 2 hosts. No changes are done on DNS records of hostnames. Xymon is polling wrong server now, that is still xymon is polling the IP's before the IP swap. Please help , what should be done. For example Host1 with IP 10.10.10.1 on hardware HP Host2 with IP 10.10.10.2 on hardware Dell I did config as Configuring host2 IP on HP server and host1 IP on Dell server with out change on DNS records. Now xymon is polling wrong host. If you didn't change the hostname the client will still report in on the wrong hostname though. The clients will report under whatever uname shows as the server name. Hi Torsten, Hosts.cfg file is set with correct IP and hostname mapping . DNS lookup also correct. Still post IP swap on hardware , it is polling old hardware host. Please let me know, if you need some other information , which will be useful to resolve this.

When you did the IP swap, did you reboot the machines? If not, did you restart xymon after changing the name? If not, the xymon client may still be reporting as the old hostname. Also, do you have a config file for the startup script? And does it define the machine as the old host name?
