Serial alarm feeds

Fellow xymoners,

 
I am looking for some ideas on how to monitor some alarm feeds (serial ROP).
I have to collect them from the xymon server, The platform involved cannot
support a xymon client, I have the collection part down to stream it to a
log file. But I want to use the log monitor feature for the clients, so I
can build the alerts and post the results under the hosts display on xymon.

Any thoughts or a different way to deal with it is welcome. Fresh eyes and
ideas help break out of my box.
