Config files overwritten?

All,

What happens to any configuration files that have been changed in the
$HOBBIT/server/etc directory if I do a make install to the same
location?  Are they overwritten, or reused?

I'm wanting to do an update to the RC1 from a previous snapshot, and am
curious if it will be that easy :)
