My first thought was that the Xymon client has no permissions to read the file. But as it can read the directory, and the permissions reported on the file allow
world-read access, this theory is incorrect.
yes, the permissions are ok
However, if you're running selinux, there might be a similar restriction.
selinux is disabeld/not running
Try logging in as the Xymon user and running "md5sum" on the file to see what happens.
.. already test it, hobbit/xymon can run md5sum and got a result
[bird037] ~ $ whoami
hobbit
[bird037] ~ $ sha1sum /usr/local/etc/post_install
1ad7bc5d363dd6896f3f893402c93fb96d6fed69 /usr/local/etc/post_install
[bird037] ~ $ md5sum /usr/local/etc/post_install
5a6bdac94e99d42723303330b50cc5ba /usr/local/etc/post_install
[bird037] ~ $
Or, try using a different hash.
Yep, that i'm testing in this moment, but unfortunatley got the same
result :-(
Alert with:
red /usr/local/etc/post_install
File has MD5 hash (No MD5 data) - should be 5a6bdac94e99d42723303330b50cc5ba
File has SHA1 hash (No SHA1 data) - should be 1ad7bc5d363dd6896f3f893402c93fb96d6fed69

I've got an problem with one host to get the md5sum of a file
which is distributed also on several other machines,
where the file-md5-check runs without any problem ....

Evrythin seems to be ok

Got anybody an hint how to debug/solve this error ?
