Not sure why but after removing the Makefile and re-installing the
client is now running on the problem servers. I will keep an eye on this
to see if it happens again.

The client is still supposed to be run by Xymon, just installed by root. The install should have provided a log directory. Might want to give that another shot and see if it creates one. Probably fine to just create one yourself, but I start to wonder when a fresh install is not clean.

i got the client from
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/xymon/Xymon/4.3.10/xymon-4.3.10.tar.gz
I did a standard install but was advised to install as root and not
xymon so everything is run under root.

I am trying to run the client on a few boxes and im getting the
following error.
cannot write to the xymon-4.3.10/client/logs directory
In the clients directory there is no logs directory and im getting this
on a few boxes. Any ideas ?
