proxy problems?

Hi All,

 
I got the proxy set-up between our site here and in Newbury but at 4:30
last night I got a call saying we were using a high level of bandwidth,
the network team investigated and found hobbit to be using 50% of our
2mb connection, is this normal? How can I run tests etc. to see how the
proxy is working and are there any settings I might alter to make it use
less bandwidth?
