he means that the client part of the software is not running on the
server.
For the server to monitor itself, it needs the client software running
on it as well.

Actually all the purple statuses are from the Server.
I am in the process of setting up a client.
I have Hobbit version 4.2.0 installed.
Thanks,

Hello all,
I'm still in the process of setting up hobbit Server. I have
hobbit server running on a Ubuntu Linux machine.
I have purple status for (the server) cpu, disk, files,
memory, msgs, ports, and procs. It's a square with waves. How can I get
rid of the purple status. I null'ed the files in ~/data/hist but the
status won't turn to green. What do I do to fix it?
Thanks!

Which Hobbit release did you install? It appears that the
client is not running.
Go to the client directory and issue:
./runclient.sh start
