I have improved the init script that comes from Debian, Red Hat, etc. It finds out where the hobbit installation is by finding the home directory of the hobbit user. The username is set in a variable, making it very easy to for the user.
Also it has a working status check.
I have tested this on Ubuntu 7.10 and Solaris 10. Still some further development and tests need to be done on Red Hat because of the special handling of BBDISP etc.
