For
several reasons, xymonnet is disabled on my Xymon.

Another script
to check ping connectivity has been coded.

This morning, a host
has shutdown and the "ping" test has turned red.

30 minutes later,
the other local tests for this host have turned clear.

I thought
it was xymonnet which generate these clear.

I can see "Checked
with ping: Yes" in the "info" test

Is a ping test exists (even if
xymonnet is disabled) and, if ko, sends clear status (instead of purple
status) for other tests executed on server ?
When a test is not
updated, it will usually go purple - this happens inside the Xymon
server (xymond). But if a ping status has been registered - regardless
of how this happened - then xymond will first check if the ping-status
is red, yellow or blue - in that case, then the stale test will go clear
instead of purple.
This is different from the old Big Brother system.

xymonnet does not generate a 'clear' status, except when 1) it has run
the ping test and it failed, and 2) another network test fails. In that
case, the second network test will be 'clear' instead of red. See the
'noclear' description in the hosts.cfg man-page.

The 'Checked with
ping' info only tests for a "noconn" setting on the host, it cannot tell
if you have disabled xymonnet entirely.
