Actually I have a 4.2 client, built on an HPUX 11.11 server which runs just fine on 11.23 and 11.31. HPUX is very backward compatible for most software.

Your system is on 11.23. Therefore, Both 11.11 and 11.0 are not working with your system.
swinstall is the tool to install this depot - it will analyze the package including version. if the version does not match, It will not install the package.
Here is what I did: 1- move the depot to /var/tmp 2- gunzip the package, 3- run : swinstall -s /var/tmp/hobbit.x.xx.depot 4 - a GUI appears - then install it.

[hobbit] Which client-version for HPUX?
Hi,
I have to install a Hobbit client on a HPUX-System. A while ago, someone posted a link to a download area for pre-compiled clients (http://www.razorsedge.org/~mike/software/hobbit/hpux/), so, I can get the client.
But, the question is, which one should I use? 11.00 or 11.11? Uname-string of the system is:
HP-UX <host> B.11.23 U ia64 3893899274 unlimited-user license
And, how do I install those "depots"? Can someone give a short description, or tell me where I can find it?
I'm not really familiar with HP-UX, my world is SUN Solaris and Linux, :-).
