This sounds familiar. I think this may involve the web server process
owner having access to the xymon files. I'm assuming you are using apache,
run:
ps -elf | grep apache
This will show you something like:
5 S wwwrun 23599 23582 0 80 0 - 21785 inet_c 15:17 ? 00:00:00
/usr/sbin/httpd2-prefork -f /etc/apache2/httpd.conf -D SYSTEMD -DFOREGROUND
-k start
In this case the user/owner is "wwwrun". From memory, redhat/centos uses
"www". Once you know who is running your web server, you can then check the
ownership of the xymon data files to see whether the above user has access.
The web server "owner" needs to be able to access these files and the
xymon cgi scripts.

I don't fully understand what you mean. How do I check that the username
running the Xymon server is allowed to "log into the client" ? (and if it
can't, how am I suppose to allow it ?)
Concerning the Xymon server icons, I may have not be clear enough:
For now, the only monitored system is the Xymon server itself (the client
is launched on the same machine as the server). Thus the only icons I have
are the ones that corresponds to the server itself.
However I just remarked that some of them are working or having a
different problem. Below is a quick overview:
- bbd, conn, cpu, disk, files, http, inode, memory, msgs, ports, procs,
trends, xymond, xymonnet, xymongen are returning the "cannot load host
configuration" error;
- clientlog is returning another error : "status not available:
Req=clientlog localhost.localdomain, result=5". In the httpd error log
file, the same lines appear;
- info seems to work. The row "alerting" however says "alert
configuration unavailable but I suppose this is a different problem.

Check the username running the Xymon server is allowed/able to actually
log into the client.

Indeed, 'ipaddress' corresponds to the server's IP address and
'clientipaddress' is the IP address of the computer I use (the server is on
a Linux computer but I use a Windows one to work).

I've recently installed Xymon (version 4.3.27 on CentOS 7) and the
http://ipaddress/xymon/ page is working properly.
However, when I click on any of the icons, I get a "Cannot load host
